My Drawings

These are from my college years and are done in ballpoint pen. They evolved from figure drawing classes; I was practicing drawing hands and feet all over a page when one of my classmates remarked how odd all the disembodied body parts looked. So I just added horse heads to them all – and a new artform was found!

Pen & Ink portrait of a client’s house from their photograph.

Pencil drawing of Dick Folkers, a longtime member of the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg.

Pen & Ink drawing for a Summer Reading Program for the West Shore Public Library in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Colored Ballpoint Pen drawing. This was for a “Jurassic June” competition a friend proposed, where all of us drew a dinosaur (or a creature like a dinosaur) each day of the month of June. It was a lot of fun.

Pen & Ink drawing. I attended the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California, 1981 to 1984. During that time I sold some pieces similiar to this one to Price, Stern, & Sloane’s DOODLE ART division. They sold colorless posters with color markers so that they could be colored in. My “Escape of the Unicorns” was very successful for them, and they commissioned four more pieces from me.
